Whipps Cross University Hospital part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking to recruit a Full Time Substantive Neurology Consultant to join our Neurology teams based at Whipps Cross University Hospital and The Royal London Hospital

The post holder will be expected to provide General Neurology Clinics each week at Whipps Cross University Hospital and to deliver an additional Sub-Speciality Headache Clinic at the Royal London Hospital They will also participate in Neurology Consultant daytime on call rota at Whipps Cross University Hospital, support Advice and Guidance and assist with Acute Neurology Cover at The Royal London Hospital

Person specification

KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of Neurology
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and shows clear commitment to quality improvement in patient care
  • Understands modern medical curricula and is committed to ongoing professional development

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Holds MRCP(UK) or an approved equivalent specialist qualification
  • Holds full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • • Entry on the GMC Specialist register (or eligibility for entry within 6 months of date of advisory appointments committee) for Neurology by CCT or CESR

Desirable

  • • Provides evidence of active research participation, including peer reviewed publications.

CLINICAL SKILLS

Essential

  • Demonstrates effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across clinical and management settings.
  • Demonstrates effective management of staff and resources to optimise service delivery
  • Communicates effectively with GPs and other professionals across hospital and community settings.

TEACHING SKILLS

Essential

  • Demonstrates teaching experience in multiple settings,

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Demonstrates clinical experience in neurology clinics and neurology ward management
  • Experience in Headache Neurology

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Desirable

  • Provides evidence of research productivity, including authorship of peer reviewed research publications.
  • Has delivered poster or oral presentations at conferences

PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential

  • Will live within 30 minutes of Whipps Cross Hospital

MANAGEMENT AND AUDIT SKILLS

Essential

  • Has experience and understanding of medical audit processes
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills

Desirable

  • Demonstrates knowledge of methods to enhance efficiency and productivity within clinical workflows
