Job summary

Main duties of the job

The Job Plan will comprise of 10 programmed activities, including burns on-call. The job plan will be subject to the needs of the service and experience of the successful candidate. The final time table will be constructed following discussion with the successful candidate and will result in an agreed job plan. The job plan will be mainly in burns, but there will some opportunities to take part in general plastic surgery.

The appointee will participate in the 1:7 burns on call rota covering the adult burns centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the paediatric burns centre at Birmingham Children Hospital Birmingham Childrens Hospital. Also, the appointee will be part of burns MDT at both QEHB and BCH.

The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to departmental teaching and support residents with projects leading to publications and presentations. The involvement in continuing medical education is an integral part of the advertised post and as such, the successful candidate will be expected to support recruitment to clinical trials and practice evidence-based medicine. The appointee will be expected to participate in all aspects of clinical governance as developed by the Trust to monitor, maintain and develop the quality and effectiveness of care.
