The Integrated Cardio-Respiratory Service is a combined service working across hospital and community pathways, providing community services in clinic and home-based settings.
The service is a consultant led multidisciplinary team, providing a range of services including: diagnostic clinics, COPD and asthma disease optimisation, exacerbation management, hospital discharge, home oxygen, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, dyspneoa management and primary care education and support.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work cooperatively as part of the multi-disciplinary team supporting colleagues in looking after patients and promoting respiratory health within ICHNT and the surrounding community. The role will entail supporting the nationally accredited pulmonary rehabilitation programmes as well as providing diagnostic spirometry (following appropriate training) and support to colleagues in clinics and in the community.
Main duties of the job
- To work closely with clinical staff to assist them in undertaking procedures.
- To carry our assigned tasks involving direct patient care to a specified standard following appropriate training in clinic and patients’ homes including:
- Provide education on inhaler techniques & chronic disease management (breathing exercises etc) with support of seniors
- Assisting consultants led clinics with basic observations, inhaler technique, and completion of respiratory questionnaire
- Provide patients with written information on their respiratory conditions in clinic and home setting as appropriate
- Carrying out routine observations including BP, SpO2, Temperature, Height and weight
- Collecting specimens blood, viral swabs and sputum cultures from patient within the home and clinic environment
- Supporting the team to maintain all clinical equipment as per trust/ manufacture’s guidance. Ensure stock is within minimal levels within the clinical and non-clinical environment.

- Able to problem solve

- Advanced IT skills use or Excel

Education
Essential
- Certificates of competence in performing basic clinical observations and procedures
- English Language GCE/GCSE or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 or 12 months experience at Band 3 or equivalent
- Six months experience in an Outpatient Clinic Setting
Desirable
- Experience of respiratory +/- community care.
