Choices College is a supported internship programme that aims to support young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities or autism to become employment ready.
You will work closely with the Area Manager in delivering the College's outcomes and maintaining an employment transition rate for learners at above 70%. You will play a key role in ensuring the programme meets the needs of the learners, employers and regulatory bodies.

Main duties of the job
A passion for supporting learners with SEN to meet their full potential is essential for this role. The post holder will hold a teaching qualification or have recent experience in supporting the education of learners with SEN in the classroom and work placement. They will have the skills and experience to adapt working practices to suit the learning needs of individual learners using Training in Systematic Instruction methodologies.
The post holder will be a confident communicator with excellent motivating skills; you will also be highly organised and be extremely efficient in using MS Office packages.
The coordinator’s main duties will include supporting, monitoring and recording individual learner’s progress and reinforcing employability skills by delivering sessions in a classroom setting. The role also involves delivering bespoke training to mentors and sourcing new employers to provide placements/employment transitions for learners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role will work directly with young people with learning difficulties supporting them to gain the skills they need to become work ready with essential employability skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly support the Area Manager ensuring interns have placements and are fully supported.
- Ensure TSi Methodology is appropriately applied to the workplace learning.
- Support, develop and track progress of the young people.
- Support mentors in placements to develop appropriate roles and responsibilities for the interns.
- Responsibility for identifying appropriate potential progression opportunities for interns and for carrying out regular progression assessments and planning.
- Responsibility for implementing action plans and for the delivery of agreed outcomes.
- You will be expected to work across all grades of staff in different NHs organisations.
- Responsibility for ensuring up to date accurate record keeping in line with the programme requirements.
- You will be involved, where required, in supporting the teaching of interns in the classroom.
- You will be expected to train mentors and attended various awareness information events as required, sometimes outside of normal working hours.
- You will be expected to support interns into positive progression into employment/apprenticeship opportunities.
- Direct responsibility for reporting any identified safeguarding concerns to the Area Manager.
The College Coordinator is a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to enable, promote and support the Interns to have a high-quality placement to enable work based learning whilst ensuring a positive business impact.
All public facing roles require a proportionate level of English language proficiency for written and verbal communication and the Trust is required to verify results of certain English language competency tests relied upon. When the fluency duty is met by the provision of a sign language interpreter, the interpreter should be registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD).

- Experience working with young people with SEN
- Experience of classroom delivery and embedding learning outside the classroom
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection legislation including information governance
- Experience of assisting with the planning of effective meetings and events
- Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management and information analysis
- Working knowledge of MS office packages
- Experience of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders and providing information and advice
- Experience of documenting and reporting on risks and issues which includes identifying, monitoring and escalating risks and safeguarding issues

- Experience in post-16 education and working in a classroom environment

Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience/knowledge from working in a similar area/environment
- English and maths qualifications at level 2 or equivalent.

- TSI trained with evidence of outcomes or similar experience
- Teaching qualification or relevant experience related to young people with learning disabilities difficulties/Autism.
