Job summary

Job Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior nurse to join our team of Children's Rheumatology Nurse Specialists (CNS). The jobholder will lead and manage a team of 4 Nurse Specialists within the team. Children's Rheumatology serves a population of 600,000 children in the North of England. We manage circa 750 follow up inflammatory patients a year. In addition to providing a secondary and tertiary service to the children living in the area, we see children and young people from North and West Yorkshire as well as parts of South Yorkshire. One of the strongest features of our service is leading a well-established North and West Yorkshire Paediatric Rheumatology cover via a shared-care system with outreach clinics to Airedale, Doncaster, Harrogate, York & Scarborough Hospitals. A driving licence is essential to fulfil this role.

Personalised Continuing Professional Development (CPD_ The Children's Rheumatology MDT focuses on a holistic approach to care of getting children and young people back to what they want to do from a physical and functional standpoint, and optimising general health, emotional wellbeing and educational, social and employment outcomes. We are a supporting and caring team of 5 Children's Rheumatology Nurses, 4 Children's Rheumatology Consultants, Rotational Registrars, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Youth Worker and Psychologist. This post will manage 4 band 6 CNS's. Clinical activity is predominantly outpatient based, with MDT care supporting children and young people to engage with treatment programmes as needed whilst remaining actively involved with the usual activities of childhood. Ongoing disease education and treatment modality education is a large part of the CNS's job role. There is a strong collaboration between local, region and tertiary services. Paediatric Rheumatology CNS's work closely with the regional Children's Community Nursing Teams.
