We have an exciting opportunity to offer a 12 month fixed-term 0.9 WTE B7/8a maternity cover post across two Community Mental Health Teams in West Northamptonshire. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, or CBT Therapist to join our West CMHT Psychological Therapies team and N-STEP Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering high quality, evidence based psychological care to a diverse client group. This is a varied role for a clinician who thrives on autonomy, collaboration, and service development. This post would suit an individual early on in their career who is looking to gain experience across different services as well as an experienced practitioner who enjoys working with our client population.
Main duties of the job
Across both roles you will:
Provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients in a variety of community settings, including GP surgeries and other local venues.
Work with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when required.
Regular attendance at weekly MDT clinical and business meetings.
Offer consultation, advice, and training to non-psychologist colleagues and carers, supporting psychologically informed care across the service.
Work autonomously within professional guidelines and team policies.
Use your research and audit skills to contribute to service development.
Receive regular supervision from an appropriately qualified practitioner.

Prior experience working with individuals who have severe and enduring mental health difficulties will be an advantage. Essential
- Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and professional staff.
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively.
- Skills in developing risk management plans.
- Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets, to manage own caseload/time and to work under pressure.
Desirable
- To contribute to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Doctoral Qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology OR a qualification in an accredited psychological therapy (e.g. Post Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) or Equivalent Psychological therapy training and a recorded registered qualification in one of the following core professions – nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy, psychological therapy.
- Significant experience working as a Psychological Therapy Practitioner.
- Interest/experience in working with trauma and unusual experiences and beliefs e.g. hearing voices.
Desirable
- Demonstrate further accredited/validated specialist psychological therapy training/experience Post-graduate training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice (e.g. CBTp, EMDR, CFT).
- Experience working with families and other care networks.
