Are you a compassionate and motivated individual who wants to make a real difference in people's lives? We are looking for Clinical Support Workers to join our dedicated team at Caroline House.

We are a 20-bed inpatient neurological rehabilitation unit providing specialist rehabilitation and support for patients recovering from neurological conditions and injuries. We work closely with patients and the people important to them to maximise independence, promote recovery and help individuals achieve their rehabilitation goals.

This is an exciting time to join us as we are expanding our Clinical Support Worker team. These additional posts have been created through investment in the service, allowing us to provide in-house enhanced support for our patients.

Working alongside our nurses and all of our multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals, you will be supported to provide person-centred care and support patients throughout their recovery journey.

We offer full-time and part-time jobs. As a 24-hour service, shifts include days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Your role will include:

• Helping to maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Following care plans to provide patients with individualised personal care,
• Assisting with mobility and helping patients maintain their independence.
• Working with the whole MDT to provide emotional support and reassurance to patients/carers/visitors.
• Encouraging participation in activities that promote rehabilitation, wellbeing and recovery.
• Taking and recording observations, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturations, respirations, blood glucose levels, and weight.
• Monitoring food and fluid intake and reporting any concerns to the nursing team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Communication 1. To welcome patients, visitors, and relatives to the clinical area, providing assistance, support and information where required. Being aware of barriers to effective communication and respond appropriately. 2. To answer the telephone, when necessary, in a polite courteous manner and respond appropriately within remit and pass on enquiries to the Registered Nurse. 3. Communicate effectively within the nursing team, multi-disciplinary team and other departments to ensure that patient care is well planned and coordinated. 4. To contribute to the handover of the care of patients within the team under the direct supervision of a RN maintaining confidentiality at all times. 5. Report and record using the trust’s systems (Datix) of all incidents, accidents, and complaints to the senior nurse on duty. 6. Use the System One and ICE and other trust systems as required by the clinical area.

Management 1. Take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe keeping of patient’s property in accordance with trust policy 2. Promote a professional, welcoming and uncluttered environment, keeping all storage areas safe and clean and tidy. 3. To share responsibility in the care and maintenance of all equipment in the clinical area. 4. Ensure all waste and soiled linen is disposed of in line with trust policy. 5. Participate in audit under the direction of the RN. 6. Cleaning and checking of beds, lockers, oxygen, and suction equipment in the clinical area following the discharge of a patient and in preparation for admission.

Professional/Educational 1. To ensure up to date with all mandatory (including if appropriate safeguarding and safeguarding supervision) training sessions. 2. To have completed the Care Certificate or relevant experience in a care setting. 3. To be flexible in relation to patient requirements. 4. To continue personal development in relation to identified objectives. 5. To supervise and support new staff and working with local induction programme 6. Maintain up to date knowledge of changes in policies and procedures relevant to the post 7. Participate in training and supervision sessions relevant to the clinical area this could include clinical competences where appropriate 8. Ensure that attendance at an annual appraisal is maintained and document.
