Job overview

The Radiology Department at the Westmorland General Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Support Worker to join our friendly team supporting our service.

Applicants will be expected to be well organised, have excellent communication skills and familiarity with IT systems. Ideally you will have experience of relevant work in a healthcare environment and have a Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience in healthcare.

This position will provide an exciting challenge for an active, enthusiastic, self directed, dynamic and empathetic team player, who enjoys working within a fast paced hospital environment, delivering excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

The duties will mainly involve supporting the Radiographers and Radiologists in clinical duties in Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, CT and MRI, and will include supporting in sterile procedures and carrying out venepuncture and cannulation.

You will also be involved in the smooth and efficient running of these services including some admin and clerical duties, for example making appointments on the computerised Radiology Information System and liaising with wards for in-patient appointments.

The part time post will be required to work over four days between Monday & Friday, 30 hours per week, which will include 0800 - 1600 shifts.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of patient facing hospital or care work

Desirable

  • Experience in a radiology or out-patient clinic setting

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to prioritise own workload within guidelines
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to work on any site within the Trust.
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Flexibility to cover required duties during the week and at weekends.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Good General Education including English and Maths GSCE at Grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2.
  • Good Command of English Language
  • NVQ Level 3 Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography support or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Trained in cannulation
  • Trained in venepuncture

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of computer systems relating to healthcare
  • Ability to work to Trust and Department Policies and Procedures

Desirable

  • Evidence of personal development (PDP)
  • Knowledge of Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
