Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide visible, consistent operational management for the clinical teams within their agreed portfolio. The role is responsible for line management, workforce planning, day-to-day service delivery, team development and ensuring that agreed people and operational actions are completed.
The portfolio currently includes the HCA and Phlebotomy Team, Practice Nurses and Nurse Associates, Advanced Practitioners and Biomedical Scientist. The role may also assume responsibility for the Clinical Rota Team, subject to final agreement. Physician Associates and Paramedic Practitioners sit under the PCN Manager and are outside the line-management scope of this post.
The post-holder will work closely with Clinical and Team Leads. Team Leads provide on-the-ground coordination and support, but do not line manage. The Practice Nurse and Nurse Associate Team Leads and the Advanced Practitioner Team Lead also support clinical mentoring, the clinical elements of appraisal and professional development.
This is primarily an operational management role. Clinical supervision, professional accountability and decisions about individual clinical competence remain with appropriately qualified clinical or GP leads and the individual registered clinician. The post-holder will ensure that concerns are identified, recorded and escalated through the appropriate route.
