Funding provided by Health and Care Research Wales supports NHS Research and Delivery (R&D) Departments led by a R&D Director to provide local services for research support and facilitates the sponsoring and hosting of studies within University Health Boards across Wales. Part of this service includes a NHS research delivery team consisting of Research Nurses, Senior Research Officers, Research Officers and Administrators, employed by NHS organisations to support the delivery of high quality health and social care studies.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cardiff and Vale University R&D for a Research Nurse to become part of the research delivery team supporting research in Cardiff and Vale.
We are seeking to employ a Band 6 Registered Nurse with either Research experience and/or extensive clinical experience with an interest in research. The post holder will contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will include the recruitment, education, monitoring of trial patients, the collection and documentation of accurate data.
The post holder will be dedicated to supporting the early phase research team, based within the Clinical Research Facility.
Main duties of the job
This post is a fixed term/secondment for 2 years from the start date, to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
The post will involve caring for patients through early phase trials, whilst being responsible for managing a portfolio of trials, and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the patients/research participants taking part in research studies.
The post holder will be responsible for liaising with supporting departments, Principal Investigators, research sponsors and research colleagues to coordinate clinical trial visits according to the protocols, adhering to research regulatory standards and governance frameworks. The post holder will be supported to undertake training relevant to their clinical trial portfolio, and will work closely with an experienced team of research nurses, research managers and trial administrators to deliver trials safely and efficiently, and ensure the collection and documentation of accurate research data.
The role will involve an element of on call and occasional shift working in line with the needs of the service and individual clinical trial requirements.
The post holder will be based in the Clinical Research Facility within the University Hospital of Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
