We are seeking a motivated and self-directed Research Nurse, ideally with clinical research experience, to play a key role in identifying and recruiting patients to provide a range of samples that will underpin the work of the study. You will work within the respiratory team, and the role will entail working at both Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Papworth Hospital with an honorary contract.
You must be a Registered Nurse with experience of supporting clinical research, ideally with a clinical research qualification such as in Good Clinical Practice. You will have substantial experience of working with patients and their carers within clinical areas, including experience in a relevant field within the NHS is desirable. Prior knowledge of how to consent patients, working with clinical and academic teams, or of human biological sample management is essential. This will be a team role, but with a degree of self-autonomy, and so an ability to work independently when required will be very useful. Excellent communication skills, organisational ability and time management are a must.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder is responsible for the provision of high quality, patient focused clinical research for a respiratory study as part of the CG-TIC collaboration.
- Responsible for identifying eligible clinical research participants, provision of information and support to patients/participants, study recruitment and consent, co-ordination of study treatment/ interventions, assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care and data collection according to study protocols in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice, EU Clinical Trials legislation and the NHS research governance framework.
