Job overview

We invite you to consider being involved in this exciting opportunity to be part of delivering the Government’s commitment to having integrated mental health teams in all schools in Surrey by 2030. Our school-based needs teams (SBN) aim to increase access to mental health support for children and young people up to the age of 18 years old by delivering 3 core functions; supporting families and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties by delivering direct evidence-based interventions; providing timely advice and consultation to school staff and supporting schools to deliver whole school approaches to mental health.

Surrey SBN services work as part of geographical hubs, with each team having a clinical base but also being co-located and delivering support in a range of schools in their area.

We currently have 4 WTE vacancies for Band 7 Senior Clinicians in our South ‘Hub’ area – with vacancies based in Guildford; Godalming or Surrey Heath. We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary team and welcome applications from candidates from range of professional backgrounds including, but not exclusively, CBT Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Child Psychotherapy and Mental Health Nursing.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Clinician you will be mentoring and/or supervising the development of Low Intensity CBT practitioners (EMHPs/CWPs) in your team, building a culture of high-quality clinical practice. You will grow and nurture trainees and newly qualified EMHPs/CWPs, utilising your experience and skills to ensure they develop into well rounded clinicians. For sufficiently qualified clinicians, the opportunity to complete a fully funded 1 year Supervision Training is also available as part of these roles.

You will take the lead in building relationships with senior leaders in schools, providing regular case consultation, support and advice, and being a 'link' to the wider children's mental health services. Together with the Lead and educational psychologists, you will develop programmes of work to support schools with their whole school approach goals, enabling more sustainable, holistic change. Finally, you will hold a caseload, delivering direct interventions to CYP and families.

We are looking for inspiring, motivated, forward-thinking clinicians who are flexible and able to work effectively with partners in education, multiagency partners, children, young people and their families.

We have many opportunities for staff development and training, and welcome staff who are seeking an opportunity to be part of a growing, supportive, exciting and innovative service.

Please Note - We are recruiting to multiple jobs in multiple areas and candidates only need to apply for 1 area but can express an interest in other geographical locations at interview.
