This post presents a unique and exciting leadership opportunity for a suitably qualified individual to drive a forward-thinking, expanding cancer service within the Breast oncology teams at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre of excellence.
Alongside a comprehensive programme of core clinical activity, the postholder will play a key role in the further development and full implementation of an innovative patient-initiated follow-up pathway for breast oncology patients. Already designed and successfully piloted, the pathway represents a transformation of traditional follow-up models, with an emphasis on personalised, needs-led care, digital enablement and supported self-management.
The successful candidate will contribute to embedding and scaling this approach, helping to improve patient experience, optimise service efficiency and support alignment with national priorities for survivorship and service redesign. The post offers an exciting opportunity to help deliver forward-thinking care within a progressive and collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the team at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is a specialist Trust delivering treatment to patients across Cheshire and Merseyside and the Isle of Man with both solid tumour and Haemato-Oncology malignancies.
The Breast team are based across the four sectors of the region served by the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The post will be split across 2 main sites at the brand new state-of -the-art Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool and at our Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Wirral , with an opportunity for some remote working.
We are looking for an experienced Oncologist who is enthusiastic, flexible, hard-working and a good team player. You must have existing GMC registration to apply for this role. Any candidate who is unable or does not wish to work full-time is eligible to be considered for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content should be discussed on a personal basis with the Associate Medical Director.

Teaching
Essential
- Ability to teach all grades of clinical staff, including those in training
- Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
- Experience of supervising medical trainees
Qualifications
Essential
- Full and Specialist registration (as well as a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview
- FRCR (or equivalent)
- Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of award of CCT by the date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT via CESR/Article 14
Desirable
- Higher degree of PhD or MD by postgraduate thesis (or evidence of equivalent research training/experience)
- Relevant certificate of training in communication
Clinical Experience
Essential
- Experience of specialist training in the management of Breast malignancies Experience managing patients on clinical trials
- Experience of clinical audit
