As a Clinical Administrator you will play a vital role in supporting the Rheumatology Consultant Team to achieve exemplary patient care. If you enjoy variety in a fast paced environment wish to be part of a team striving to make a difference and have the ability to work under pressure at times and you can answer “yes” to the above then we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need to deal with patients, clinicians and other staff members, ensuring high levels of customer service and attention to detail. You will have regular interaction with the secretarial management team and the departmental service manager. It is essential that you are able to demonstrate good interpersonal, verbal and written skills and have a "can do" attitude.

You will have a good level of IT literacy as you will be using multiple software packages.

This role will keep you both challenged and busy as you work closely with colleagues to support the clinical team of Consultants, junior doctors and specialist nurses.

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent typing, word processing and audio typing skills.
  • Good keyboard and IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to communicate with, co ordinate and liaise with a multidisciplinary team
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability on own initiative and manage own workload for best effect, work without direct supervision and delegate to others
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team with a professional approach to work and colleagues; able to develop good working relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to take direction and instruction from others
  • Proactive, self-motivated and with a positive approach to work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

Experience

Essential

  • Previous secretarial experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of maintain / updating records

  • Previous experience working in a medical secretarial capacity

Qualifications

  • Evidence of good general education to GCSE Grade C or above, including maths and English
  • NVQ3 Business & Administration or equivalent

  • NVQ 4 in administration or equivalent
  • ECDL or alternative IT qualification
