Main duties of the job

The Sleep Service is a Regional Specialist Centre and we are looking for a friendly, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to provide comprehensive administration service and clerical support and be a part of our team at St James Hospital. You will be joining our supportive and positive team that combines administration staff, secretaries, doctors and nurses. Job responsibilities

Why you should join our Team

The successful candidate will join the Sleep Service team, to facilitate the smooth and efficient delivery of the patient administration pathway from referral and throughout the outpatient/inpatient process. You will be providing an efficient, effective and accurate administrative duty to support the delivery of high standard and cost effective treatment of patients.

The responsibilities of this role include reception duties, making outpatient appointments, clinic preparation, dealing with patient enquiries and other healthcare professionals and filing of results. Therefore having excellent communication, being able to work as part of a team as well as being able to use own initiative and working towards deadlines are the skills to be successful at this role.

What you will bring to the role

Criteria:

Educated to GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths

ECDL qualification or willingness to undertake such training

Knowledge of Computerised Office Systems

Willingness to undertake further professional development and training

Experience in dealing with members of the public in an working environment

Previous NHS experience including Reception/Office Administration experience (desirable)

Experience of using administrative systems including data entry (desirable)

Operation of hospital out-patient receptions (desirable)

A good team player, with the ability to work in a diverse and demanding environment in a multidisciplinary team

Excellent communication skills both verbally and written that are clear and concise

Effective interpersonal skills

Good organisational and time management skills

Basic computer literacy and willingness to further undergo training

Ability to use the Trust’s Patient Administration System (desirable)
