An opportunity has arisen to join the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy service in Croydon. We are looking for an enthusiastic and diligent Admin and Clerical Officer who will be predominantly based at the Crystal Children's Development Centre in Croydon.

You will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills. An excellent telephone manner is vital as the post holder will have daily direct contact with patients and health professionals.

The successful candidate will provide dedicated day to day administrative support and ensure all administrative and clerical requirements are provided in a timely and efficient manner. The post will involve inputting accurate patient information onto databases and our patient information system- EMIS, therefore experience of databases is important. The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the department with administrative duties, which includes generating patient letters and reports, appointment bookings, answering telephone calls, responding to patient enquiries via telephone and email and other duties as required.

The post will be working in a fast-paced environment, which requires a calm but proactive approach with the ability to multi-task whilst being thorough, this will involve administering, liaising and acting in an efficient, effective and high-quality manner.

  • · To contribute to the smooth running of the Speech and Language  Therapy Service by providing a co-ordinated, efficient and effective         administrative and clerical service.

To handle telephone and written enquiries from internal services and external agencies politely and effectively

To communicate effectively, giving verbal and written correspondence to internal services and external agencies.

To be a point of contact for internal services and external agencies for any queries relating to Children’s Speech and Language Therapy.

To provide and receive information electronically, verbally or in written format of a complex & sensitive nature.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years of NHS experience in an admin capacity
  • Achieved a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C in Maths and English
  • Experience of working in a customer service role for at least 1 year

Desirable

  • Had admin and clerical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration)

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills
  • Has a strong track record of working as part of a team

Desirable

  • Has attended conflict resolution training
