An rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time (30 hours per week) Band 6 Community Nurse to join our Children's team covering the Northamptonshire area.
You will work as part of the Children's Community Team for People with Learning Disability (CCTPLD). The team has two bases - one in Northampton and one in Kettering. The post will be attached to one of the bases specified, however travel across Northamptonshire at times will be required.
We want to recruit a dedicated workforce to meet the diverse needs of our service users. Successful candidates will need to have a genuine interest in working within a multi-disciplinary team and a passion for improving the lives and health outcomes of children with a learning disability.
Due to the Community nature of the role, you must hold a UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle during working hours.
Main duties of the job
As part of the CCTPLD specialist multidisciplinary team, you will assess and provide support and intervention for children with a learning disability who have identified nursing needs. You will work in collaboration with the child, their circle of support and other relevant professionals and services to enhance, optimise and maintain the child's quality of life and reduce potential health inequalities.
You will need to be passionate about working with people with a learning disability and have experience of working as an effective and responsible member of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities would be preferred.
The Northamptonshire Children's Community Team for People with Learning Disability delivers specialist multi-disciplinary healthcare to children who have a learning disability presenting with physical health needs, a mental illness and/or challenging behaviour. The service provided is person centred and tailored to the individual and their environment, taking into account their ethnic and cultural backgrounds and needs. We provide this through direct support, joint working with other services and /or through offering consultancy to other professionals involved.
