Children’s Healthcare Support Worker - Apprenticeship Opportunity

Job overview

To work as a member of the Children’s Community Specialist Nursing team (includes the children’s community nurses, special school nurses, children’s epilepsy nurses, tuberculosis nurses, continence nurses, diabetes nurses). Supporting the team in public health, clinical, non-clinical and clerical duties. The role will require the post holder to undertake clinical duties to meet the needs of individual children and young people.

If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3 apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].

As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

Main duties of the job

• The post holder will support Children, Young People, and families across the Doncaster Borough.
• The post holder will work under the guidance of the Children’s Community Nursing Team.
• The post holder will work closely with other teams in the Children’s Long-Term condition pathway including Epilepsy, Special School Nursing, Children’s Community Nursing and TB service.
• Work with individuals, groups, and communities.
• To work in partnership with other agencies to identify and support children and young people with complex and long-term health needs.
• To contribute to the EHCP process, providing a health update for the children and young people they have been actively involved with.
• To work in partnership with other agencies to safeguard vulnerable children in line with local policy.
• Infection prevention and control is integral to this post. The post holder should always demonstrate effective infection control and hygiene practice.
• No budgetary responsibilities. No responsibility for the supervision of other staff. Participates in orientation of new staff, students and apprentices
