Job overview

Do you want a rewarding career where every day can make a real difference to the lives of children and their families?

At Sirona, our teams help families live independently and improve their quality of life in the place they love most – their home.

As a Lifetime Support Worker, you'll support children with life-limiting conditions alongside our Community Children's Nurses, providing clinical care in children's homes and, where needed, schools.

This varied and rewarding role offers flexibility around family life, supporting a healthy work-life balance while building a career.

From day one, you'll receive a tailored induction and training programme to build your skills and confidence to work independently in the community, backed by a welcoming team.

We're looking for caring, compassionate people who have excellent communication skills, use initiative, work independently and are committed to delivering outstanding care.

Whether you're experienced in care or looking to develop your career, we'll support your ambitions with apprenticeships and career pathways into nursing, leadership, training and management.

If you've worked as a Care Worker, Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker, we'd love to hear from you.

Current opportunities are available across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Please note: We cannot accept applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship. Join a trusted team where every shift has purpose and you'll be supported.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to provide care to children with complex, life-limiting health care needs that rely on technology to sustain their health. Parents need to be able to rest, Lifetime support workers work within the family’s home, overnight taking over responsibility for the child whilst parents sleep.

As a member of the Lifetime service, you will support the registered nurses in the delivery of care to our service users in the community and contribute towards the safe and seamless delivery of holistic care, working safely within your scope of practice and competence at all times.

You will undertake clinical tasks to support each individual with personal care that will be set out in their care plans – every child has their own individual needs so you will gain experience caring for a wide variety of health conditions and specialised equipment.

What our current Lifetime Support Workers have to say about their role

“I am in awe of the children I care for and the families I support. I hope that my small part in their sometimes short lives has made a difference to their quality of life. They have certainly made a difference to mine. I feel privileged to have been accepted into their homes, it’s not just a job, I have been doing this for 8 years and wish I had found it years ago”. - Lizzie

"I feel honoured to be a part of our special children's lives. Knowing that we make a huge difference to the parents so they get some much needed rest, safe in the knowledge that their child is being cared for is an enormous privilege." - Ally

“I am new to Lifetime, and I can say that I have been welcomed and really well supported by a very friendly team. Even though I had relatively little nursing experience the training has been so thorough and I have learnt so much. The children we work with are amazing, and at the end of each shift I feel that I have made a small yet essential contribution to their health and well-being, and provided some much needed rest to their families.” - Megan
