Main duties of the job
The post holder has a responsibility for the provision of a high quality catering service. The post holder may work in any area within LUFT which offers a catering service, this can include patients feeding, Staff dining area, any of the trusts retail outlets and hospitality.
The preparation and service of meals to patients, staff and visitors of LUHG and any other areas where the trust has an SLA. The trust operates a menu with a number of selections, but if needed may need to prepare special meals to ensure the patients receive quality meals.The post holder must clean their area during and after service.
Ensuring that the quality of food produced is to the high standard from the catering department and ensuring that the Catering departments HACCP policy is adhered to at all time. Ensuring that food waste is kept to the minimum.
The post holder will have a good knowledge of special and therapeutic diets as well as dietary needs including Vegetarian and Vegan requirements.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Food Preparation - Preparing any food required to produce the dishes required
Cooking and Service
Check food for correct temperature before service. And record on the trusts HACCP sheets. Take appropriate action is food fails
Check the quality of food to comply with the Trusts standards. Take appropriate action if the food fails Have knowledge of special therapeutic diets and be able to respond to a request for the provision of a special diet at short notice. Observe good hygiene practises and keep up to date with current food hygiene and training legislation. Ensure the documentation for the trusts HCCP policy is completed, and any fails rectified and retested

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Qualifications
Essential
- 3 GCSE or Equivalent
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent in catering
- CIEH level 2 food hygiene
- Allergen Training
Desirable
- Must be prepared to study for CIEH level 3 food hygiene certificate
- Must be prepared to study for Level 2 Award in Identifying and Controlling Food Allergen Risks
