Marie Curie is the UKs leading end of life charity. We are the largest non NHS provider of end of life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, theyre likely to die from.

Main duties of the job

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10 per cent of dying people at the end of life.Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

Job responsibilities

Were looking for a compassionate and motivated Chef to join our Facilities team on permanent basis, supporting our kitchen during periods of annual leave, sickness, or increased service demand. Youll help prepare nutritious, homecooked meals for patients, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues contributing directly to the warm, supportive atmosphere our hospice is known for.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys flexible working and wants to use their culinary skills to make a positive impact

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 3 -aligned with AFC £26,300 - £27,890 per annum + Enhancements

Contract:Permanent, Full Time. 37.5 hours per week.

Shift pattern: 7am-3pm or 11am-7pm.

Based: Cardiff and the Vale Hospice.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking -essential requirement
• Strong cooking skills with the ability to prepare varied, highquality menus
• A caring, adaptable approach and excellent customer service
• Experience in catering environments; healthcare experience is welcome but not required
• Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for kitchen operations during shifts
