Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Cancer MDT Co‑ordinator Assistant who will provide specialist administrative support to cancer Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) within the centralised Cancer MDT Department. The role is key to optimising patient flow and acting as a central coordination point for local multidisciplinary activity.

The post holder will be responsible for modifying, maintaining and analysing patient information to update cancer pathways within the electronic patient record, in line with National Cancer Waiting Times Guidance and Trust cancer policies and procedures. They will also be accountable for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and completeness of data recorded.

This role will focus on tracking the early stages of patient pathways, including cancer screening pathways, and supporting less complex MDT meetings and tertiary pathways.

Main duties of the job

Provide administrative support to clinical teams and cancer management, ensuring delivery of patient pathway and national standards.

Coordinate MDT meetings, including patient entries, agenda circulation, and accurate recording and distribution of outcomes and treatment plans.

Maintain and update patient data across hospital systems and the Cancer Register, ensuring accuracy and completeness (including COSD requirements).

Track patient pathways via the Cancer PTL, escalating delays or breaches in line with agreed timescales.

Support lead clinicians with administrative requirements for cancer standards and policy meetings.

Ensure high-quality data collection, validation, and reporting to meet national cancer waiting time standards.

Extract, collate, and analyse patient data, including contribution to breach analysis and root cause investigations.

Communicate effectively with clinical teams and external stakeholders, managing queries, correspondence, and sensitive information appropriately.

Maintain organised electronic and manual filing systems in line with departmental standards.

Provide cross-cover and flexible support across cancer teams as required.

Experience

  • Administration experience.
  • Meeting note taking.
  • Experience communicating effectively with staff of different disciplines.

  • Administration experience in Cancer MDT department.
  • Experience of managing PTL’s and tracking patients
  • Managing Tertiary Cancer pathways and shared tracking and data responsibilities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Three GCSE’s (or equivalent) level ‘C’ Maths and English.
  • Understanding Cancer E learning Certificates for all core modules

Desirable

  • Understanding Cancer E learning Certificates for some site specific modules
  • NVQ 2/3 Business Admin/IT or equivalent
