Job summary

This is a 37.5 hours per week post, based in Hereford.

CAMHS Herefordshire offers assessments and a range of evidence-based interventions to Children and young people up to the age of 18. The role is primarily based in Hereford with occasional travel.

This role is across core CAMHS, including our Child in Care pathway.

We are looking for a CAMHS practitioner with experience of undertaking assessments, interventions and supporting other members of the team.

You would be part of a friendly, multi-disciplinary team, supporting the service in offering robust mental health assessment and planned treatments/interventions. You will be working as part of the wider CAMHS MDT where you will have the opportunity to supported, learn and grow. We have structured supervision and reflective spaces and support ongoing CPD.

The work will be challenging, exciting and rewarding as we promote mental health recovery and empowerment to our children and young people

Main duties of the job

Duties in your role include offering mental health assessments and care planning/treatment for moderate to severe mental health illnesses that are experienced by those aged under 18 years.

The CAMHS multi-disciplinary team will support you in your clinical decision making in relation to the patients you assess.

As a senior colleague you will be expected to offer mentorship to other staff members, students and trainees as appropriate to your qualification. There is also an expectation that you will take on some leadership roles within the team.

You are expected to proactively engage in your own supervision and be able to deliver supervision.

There is an emphasis on communication with children, young people, families, partner agencies both verbally and in writing to promote mental health recovery and multi-agency working.

We offer clinical on-site appointments but sometimes source alternative locations.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in undertaking research projects / clinical audits.
  • Significant recent and relevant clinical experience post-registration.
  • Previous experience providing a service to children and young people within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Able to demonstrate evidence-based practice.
  • Leadership experience / experience managing a clinical team.
  • Experience of working with patients with severe and enduring mental illness.
  • Experience of partnership working / liaison in inter-agency environment.
  • Able to demonstrate experience and skill in assessing mental health and risk.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A current professional qualification (RMN, RSCN, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist).
  • EMHP - PGDip/GradDip Mental Health Practice in Education Settings.
  • CWP - Postgraduate Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing Practice.
  • EMHP or CWP significant post qualification experience.
  • Evidence of continuous and recent professional development and post qualification training / studies.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
