Job overview

We are looking for an experienced mental health nurse to be based in our CAMHS Eating Disorders multidisciplinary team (MDT) , and work to forge strong links with our Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment MDT. This includes the provision of consultation, training and attendance at clinical meetings to support the Crisis/IHT team in the care of patients with eating disorders. Alongside the link role your experience will be valued through you holding a clinical caseload.

You will be a qualified mental health nurse with experience of working with children and young (CYP) in crisis, and also specifically have worked with CYP with eating disorders. We are looking for someone who will share their knowledge and experience with other clinicians and provide support for them in their role working with this patient group.

You will be ambitious and have a positive attitude and outstanding clinical skills, along with excellent interpersonal skills which will enable you to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families.

Located at our site in Aylesbury, both the ED Team and Crisis/IHT teams pride themselves in being supportive and friendly places to work and professionally develop.

Main duties of the job

As the Eating Disorder and Crisis/IHT Liaison mental health nurse your main duties will be:

To lead and ensure there is effective provision of support for CYP with an eating disorder within the Crisis/IHT Service.

To work across both the Crisis/IHT and Eating Disorder CAMHS services and other agencies to ensure that CYP have high quality effective interventions, with the role providing an effective interface for communication between the ED team and Crisis/IHT Team. This includes ensuring good communication with Inpatient Units where CYP may be requiring admission and to support good discharge planning.

  • To offer robust mental health support to children and young people with mental health concerns, specifically CYP with eating disorders and co-morbidity as required
  • To participate on the CYP ED team's duty rota and undertake emergency assessments when and where required (i.e. community, hospital site, children's homes)
  • To support the development of care pathways, and signpost young people to appropriate mental health services.
  • To provide consultation, advice, training and support both internally and for other agencies
