An opportunity has arisen within NHS Highland Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, for a Band 5 CAMHS Community Nurse to join our friendly and forward thinking team. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated professional who is committed to working with young people and their families
You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate that you can work within a multi-disciplinary team.
The post holder will be situated within our Intensive CAMHS (I-CAMHS) service, providing intensive care and outreach to young people and families requiring specialist T4 level CAMHS care. This can include young people and families struggling to access our clinic in Inverness, those who may need inpatient admission due to escalating care needs or supporting young people before and after admission to hospital.
We have experienced success with a focused recruitment drive over the last 3 years which has allowed us to substantially expand our nursing provision in the department. We have also invested heavily in the support structure for our nursing staff and we consider ourselves a compassionate, caring and innovative team which supports professionals to work to their potential.
The work will involve; direct supportive contact with children and young people with severe and complex mental health problems and their family and carers within The Phoenix Centre, the community and Raigmore Hospital. As a non-case holder, the post holder will support the service to implement agreed interventions in line with best practice, and with a focus on building and maintaining sound therapeutic relationships with young people/families to support engagement and positive outcomes.
This post will also entail training and exposure for professionals with a keen interest in learning and shaping service delivery and who wish to develop their skills in a varied and fascinating clinical specialism.
The post holder will work closely with the CAMHS MDT to deliver a specialist, comprehensive and therapeutic service, using their own initiative with support from colleagues.
The post holder needs the ability to work flexibly which might include working outside normal working hours according to the changing needs of the service however currently CAMHS provide a Monday to Friday 9-5 service. A driving licence is essential.
