Job summary

Opportunity to join a small productive Procurement team purchasing essential goods and services for staff and patients across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The role includes working within the Trust processes and systems to procure clinical and non-clinical products at the best possible best value.

Dealing with a range of internal Trust staff and external suppliers ensuring Trust departments have what they need to provide outstanding care.

Contracted hours 37.5 hours per week across five days, with flexible working. Includes partial working from home and the option of working across multiple sites if you so wish.

There is the opportunity to learn and progress in a busy but supportive environment, as well as the pursuit of CIPs and other opportunities via the HFMA.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for processing purchase requisitions, extensive communication with internal customers and external suppliers in order to provide a comprehensive procurement service responsive to service needs and of a high standard.

Support other members of the Procurement team in obtaining maximum possible benefits from contracts, expenditure against goods and services, seeking best value, reliability, responsiveness and innovation from the procurement service.

Support the purchase to pay processes enabling the timely payment of invoices.

Inclusive of supporting requisitioners so invoices are receipted and validated for payment.

Behave consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote these on day to day basis.

Act as a role model to colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.

Use initiative, taking responsibility for themselves, the quality of their work and the service they provide to staff and patients.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • An understanding of purchasing procedures, contract law, purchase to pay processes and procurement information systems
  • Good understanding of financial systems and budget control

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a customer care environment relevant to procurement/finance.
  • Experience of purchasing products and services within a private or public sector organisation.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good standard of education GCSE (Grade 3 and above in Maths and English), or NVQ level 3 qualification or proven equivalent experience.
  • Willing to undertake a supported programme of study leading to Foundation CIPS or similar procurement qualification.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
