We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to support the delivery and ongoing development of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. This pivotal role will support the Programme Manager in the operational and administrative management of the service, ensuring delivery in line with national standards, pathway targets, and best practice. Working closely with senior clinical leaders and key stakeholders, the post holder will play a key role in coordinating service activity, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to enhancing patient experience, increasing screening uptake, and ensuring a safe, effective, and equitable screening pathway.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the operational and administrative management of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP), supporting delivery across Herefordshire & Worcestershire in line with national standards and pathway targets.
Working closely with the Screening Director, Programme Manager, Lead SSP, and key stakeholders, the post holder will coordinate service activity, manage programme performance, and support service development, ensuring a safe, effective, and patient-centred screening pathway.
The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Bowel Screening Programme and will play a key role in supporting service improvement, performance monitoring, and implementation of national guidance.

Job responsibilities
Key Duties
SERVICE DELIVERY & OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
Support the day-to-day operational delivery of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme and Bowel Scope Screening Programme across multiple sites.
Coordinate screening activity with Trust services, the Screening Hub, and partner organisations to ensure compliance with national pathways and standards.
Support planning and coordination of screening capacity and clinic scheduling, in collaboration with Endoscopy and administrative leads.
Support planning and coordination of Health Promotion events.
Contribute to service development initiatives, including pathway improvements, Health Inequalities projects and implementation of national programme updates.
Support collaborative working across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and partner Trusts.
Assist with identifying service risks, issues, and pressures, escalating appropriately to senior managers when required.
Work closely with stakeholders to improve patient experience, uptake, and pathway efficiency.
INFORMATION, DATA & PERFORMANCE
Coordinate the collection, validation, and analysis of screening performance data and activity reports.
Produce routine and ad hoc reports to support performance monitoring, quality assurance, and service reviews.
Support local performance management processes, including preparation for Quality Assurance visits and reviews.
Identify information and communication needs across primary and secondary care to ensure effective dissemination of programme information.
Support health promotion initiatives, including work to address inequalities in screening uptake.
GOVERNANCE & QUALITY
Ensure screening services operate in line with national BCSP standards, Trust policies, and clinical governance requirements.
Support the development, review, and implementation of local protocols, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in quality assurance and audit activity, supporting action plans and service improvements.
Contribute to risk identification and management, ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation.
Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the screening service.
LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT
Provide day-to-day line management and professional support to administrative and clerical staff within the BCSP.
Support recruitment, induction, appraisal, and performance development of staff in line with Trust policies.
Assist in identifying staffing needs and skill mix requirements to support service delivery.
Support change management by encouraging staff engagement and adoption of new ways of working.
Promote effective communication and teamwork across multidisciplinary and multi-organisational teams.
PROFESSIONAL & SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national bowel cancer screening guidance and best practice.
Participate in local, regional, and national BCSP networks to share learning and support service improvement.
Support training and development of staff within the screening service.
Contribute to Trust-wide initiatives relating to cancer services, screening, and prevention where appropriate.
