Job summary
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a unique organisation that works to save and improve lives every day.
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to lead value realisation for the Donor & Session Programme (DASP) within NHS Blood and Transplant. In broad terms DASP is about improving how NHSBT turns donor willingness and available appointment capacity into successful donations.
This role is focused on ensuring that programme change delivers measurable, evidenced benefits for donors, services and patients. Working across DASP and its interdependent projects and programmes, you will define, quantify, track and assure benefits, ensuring a clear line of sight from programme outputs through to operational outcomes and strategic impact.
You will act as the programmes expert on benefits realisation working closely with Programme, Change, Finance and operational colleagues to ensure benefits are robustly defined, economically sound, and embedded into business-as-usual performance. While you will align with wider organisational frameworks, your primary focus is the successful delivery and demonstration of value for DASP.
Main duties of the job
As Benefits Manager, the role leads the definition, delivery and tracking of programme benefits, ensuring alignment with NHSBTs strategic objectives, clear measurement and maximised value. The post holder will:
- Lead the development and implementation of benefits management, setting standards, strategy and culture aligned to the corporate investment approach.
- Oversee the identification, planning, tracking and reporting of benefits, ensuring alignment with business cases and organisational priorities, and supporting evidence-based decisions.
- Provide expert leadership and assurance, working with Project and Programme Managers and benefit owners to ensure benefits are delivered and risks effectively managed.
- Develop and maintain a coordinated benefits tracking system to ensure consistent reporting, transparency and accountability across the programme lifecycle.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement and workshops to define, validate and agree benefits, promoting best practice and continuous improvement.
- Support the development of business cases and ensure benefits are embedded in change and implementation plans.
- Act as an advocate for benefits management excellence, ensuring delivery of measurable and sustainable outcomes.
Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required, with prior notice.
