This role has multiple priorities with the safety of mothers and babies and good patient experience as it’s main goal, achieved by ensuring a highly trained, competent and well-staffed workforce. It will focus on staff wellbeing and development, good and effective teamworking, an open and honest approach to maternity specific training and development with a strong focus on evidence-based care and learning from incidents.
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Create practice-based learning opportunities to reinforce classroom theory • Ensure students achieve NMC requirements and escalate concerns appropriately • Support students in practice and ensure adequate supervision • Ensure appropriate assessor-to-student ratios in clinical areas • Provide pastoral care and prioritise student wellbeing • Oversee support and assessment for Return to Practice (RtP) and overseas midwives • Liaise with clinical teams to provide wider experience placements • Support staff involved in clinical incidents in collaboration with PMA team • Ensure in-situ simulation training reflects clinical incidents and thematic reviews • Provide clinical support as required, including participation in on-call rotas • Maintain visible and supportive presence in clinical and training environments
