The Band 8a Forensic Case Manager is a pivotal position embedded within a provider collaborative, operating in accordance with the NHS England (NHSE) National Case Manager Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The postholder is responsible for the strategic coordination, management, and oversight of complex forensic mental health cases, ensuring delivery of high-quality, person-centred care throughout secure services and care pathways. This role supports service users as they transition towards recovery and reintegration, acting as a principal interface between service users, clinicians, commissioners, and multi-agency partners. Main duties of the job
- Band 8a Forensic Case Managers provide strategic oversight of secure pathways for individuals within the region, ensuring alignment with NHSE commissioning intentions, national policy, and the operational frameworks of the provider collaborative.
- The role will involve national travel, participation in strategic forums, and engagement in escalation or incident management as required by the national SOP and collaborative agreements.
- The role is based on hybrid working arrangements, with an expectation of regular site based working.

Essential
- Demonstrable experience within forensic or secure mental health services, with expertise in case management, risk assessment, and multi-agency working, ideally within a collaborative context
Desirable
- Provide clinical supervision to other staff, based on a strong clinical understanding of the issues and the client group
- Experience of researching best practice interpreting its relevance and processes/ practices which could be implemented successfully to achieve system reform (advising on policy implementation).

- Comprehensive understanding of legislative, clinical, and policy frameworks relating to forensic mental health, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and MAPPA
- Excellent communication, analytical, negotiation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to manage complex information and competing priorities
- Commitment to person-centred and recovery-oriented care, partnership working, equality, and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability.
- Leadership and Accountability: Provide visible, accountable leadership in managing complex forensic cases within the provider collaborative framework.
- Collaborative Working: Promote effective multidisciplinary and interagency collaboration to ensure continuity and seamless transitions of care.

- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
- Familiar and or working knowledge of electronic patient record systems such as RIO and NCMS

Training & Qualifications

- Registered nurse (RMN/RN)
- Registered social worker with substantial post-registration experience
Desirable
- Advanced study or training in forensic mental health is desirable.
