An exciting opportunity has arisen for somebody to join our dynamic CNS Team. You will deliver high quality patient care across both our sites, working as part of the wider colorectal MDT. You will be enthusiastic, motivated and be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the role.

The role involves provision of advice and support to colorectal patients and their significant others at all stages of their treatment journey, including pre and post-surgical intervention and during oncology treatment.

We are passionate about our patients, committed to providing an excellent service,  and are looking for a like-minded individual who will support us in delivering a prompt, seamless service.

Essential requirements:

  • RGN with a degree or working towards one
  • Knowledge and experience of caring for patients undergoing colorectal surgery
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a Team
  • Oncology experience is desirable

Main duties of the job

  • Provide advice and support to patients undergoing colorectal cancer investigations and surgery
  • Demonstrate a high level of clinical decision making and an ability to monitor and improve standards of care within the Colorectal service. He/she will influence patient care with a multi-faceted approach that includes clinical expertise teaching and research.
  • Key to this role is a collaborative approach with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive patient focused service. The post holder will be expected to continue and develop nurse led clinics and stratified follow up to support the consultant's workload and provide continuity of care for cancer patients.
  • The role requires an innovative nurse with a sound vision of nursing and a commitment to providing the best patient care. Knowledge and understanding of the research process is desirable.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Integrated Care Pathways, protocols etc. within the Colorectal service area.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of in-house training packages throughout the trust
  • Responsible for acting in such a manner as to uphold and enhance the good standard and reputation of nursing and the Trust.
