Job overview

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care with the multidisciplinary team and patients’ families. As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be required to support the senior and junior team in ensuring the needs of our patients are met through the delivery of high-quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse works clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to work competently in all areas of Paediatric Emergency Department as well as being able to independently take charge of them. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team leader with managing their own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential. You will be activity involved in retention and recruitment. You will also be responsible for link roles giving you the opportunity to drive change and improve standards. We are looking for an inspirational nurse who enjoys teamwork and making a difference to the team and the patients.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint passionate, enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic Band 6 children’s Nurses who are ready to take the next step to develop their leadership and management skills. Our department has an integrated Urgent Care Centre and Adult Emergency Department.   Barnet ED also has Advanced Care practitioners working alongside the ED medical Team and supporting the Nursing staff. Furthermore we are a Trauma Unit receiving trauma patients from across Hertfordshire and North London. We are a busy unit receiving up to 90 ambulances per day and over 120,000 patients per year. We pride ourselves on our high quality, safe and effective care. Training and support for all staff is key to a happy team and safe patient care, this is why we have a clinical practice education team dedicated to the development of our nurses. We are committed to developing and supporting a modern career framework for our nurses in the Emergency Department. You will be supported every step of your Emergency care career pathway by our senior nurses and Clinical Practice Education team. We pride ourselves in continual development for our staff.
