We are delighted to be able to offer a committed and experienced Nurse, who will provide clear leadership within the multi-disciplinary team and provide line management support to identified staff. the opportunity to join our team of Clinical Services Coordinators and Clinical Services Nurses, within our friendly and forward thinking children’s community Neurodevelopmental Team.

You will work closely with our AHP and Nursing service leads to ensure our teams are able to provide a safe and effective Autism Assessment Service for our Children, Young People and their families.

You will also work closely with the Operational Manager, ensuring efficient delivery of assessments for children and young people.

You will be expected to liaise with the wider system across health, education and social care to offer the best possible support to families of children with suspected ASD/ADHD/neurodevelopmental needs.

To make effective use of our virtual and mobile working technology and IT systems, you will also have good IT skills.

Main duties of the job

To provide clear clinical leadership within the NDP autism service for junior nurses and identified clinical and support staff

To be responsible for supporting the co-ordination of clinical activities within the service, participating in clinical activity in the service including undertaking assessments as part of the autism assessment pathway

To ensure that safe high-quality care is maintained by providing clinical judgement to undertake clinical harms reviews, safe care reviews and safe discharges, ensuring these processes are implemented and maintained as per the service guidance

• Management – Day to day management responsibility for Autism pathway team members, including, but not limited to; junior nurses, clinical assistants and healthcare workers

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To support the service in developing positive and effective relationships and partnership working with providers across all agencies/sectors in the area, promoting inclusive practice to the benefit of children with additional needs
• To undertake assessments and develop programmes of care for children as part of the multi-disciplinary team at a variety of locations across the city including schools and health centres.
• Be a Member of the MDT for discussion and decision making on diagnosis following assessment.
• Undertake writing of reports for the outcome of assessment.
• Ensure that parent/carer involvement, engagement and participation is at the core of all activities planned and undertaken.
• To clinically support in the organisation of appropriate clinics, groups, assessments and reviews, ensuring they are congruent with patient need, and to work with the operational team to ensure that they are delivered in an efficient, effective and inclusive manner, following agreed service guidelines and processes.
• Liaise with health care professionals and colleagues from other agencies to ensure children receive the optimum care when attending assessments.
• Provide appropriate clinical advice to members of the team to ensure that quality and safety is maintained, linking in with other staff as needed, i.e. Safeguarding leads, Health Visitors and other key clinical managers.
• Support reviews as and when required, ensuring reports are completed in a timely fashion.
• Ensure that clinical reviews are undertaken within the expected timeframes of the service operating procedure.
• Undertake clinical supervision with relevant clinical staff.
• To work with the Clinical Service Coordinators & Service Clinical Manager for the NDP autism service to ensure that services provided meet local and national standards applicable to the work undertaken within the service
