We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Technician to join our Medical Academy's Clinical Education team. If you are a technically skilled professional with a genuine passion for simulation technology and healthcare training, this is a fantastic opportunity.
This post sits within a dynamic team that encompasses Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), Clinical Skills, and Simulation. You will work alongside academic staff, healthcare professionals, and students to ensure our state-of-the-art simulation facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards and that training is delivered seamlessly and safely. The department operates across all UHB trust sites, and you will be expected to travel between locations regularly as your role requires.
Main duties of the job
You will serve as a first point of contact for daily service delivery queries, take responsibility for allocating tasks to Associate Technicians, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our training offer. You will also work in close collaboration with the Lead Technician to provide day-to-day supervision and line management support for the Associate Technician team.
This is a varied, hands-on, and genuinely rewarding role that requires both strong technical expertise and excellent communication skills. No two days are the same, and you will regularly find yourself moving between equipment maintenance, scenario design, session facilitation, and team coordination -- all in support of a shared mission to deliver world-class clinical education.
Technical Equipment and Facilities
*Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot all simulation equipment including high-fidelity mannequins, audiovisual systems, task trainers, and associated IT and network infrastructure.

Job responsibilities

*Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity faults efficiently to minimise disruption to training delivery.
*Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and calibration logs.
*Liaise with manufacturers and external service providers to ensure timely resolution of complex technical issues.
Training Delivery and Simulation Support
*Assist with the coordination, scheduling, and setup of simulation-based training sessions for students, clinicians, and healthcare staff.
*Collaborate with the academic team to develop and regularly update clinical simulation scenarios that reflect current best practice in healthcare.
*Act as a simulation facilitator during training exercises when required, managing the technical environment in real time to support effective and immersive learning experiences.
*Provide clear, accessible guidance and training to all staff and students on the use of simulation technologies and equipment.
