We are looking for an experienced administrator/co-ordinator with secretarial experience to join the Respiratory Medicine Department on an 18-month fixed term contract.
Providing comprehensive and efficient administrative service to consultant(s) with particular focus on our 2ww lung cancer pathway.
Responsibilities including support for the outcomes from daily triage meetings, liaising with existing staff members to book appointments to specified timeframes, manging and monitoring clinical availability at short notice, generating standard letters, typing and distributing clinical correspondence and managing workload using own initiative.
The Respiratory medicine department is very busy, and this role will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives, colleagues, consultants and other health care professionals. We need someone with strong communications skills and the ability to build credible relationships.

Main duties of the job
The role is varied and challenging and will include:
* A comprehensive and full ranging administration/co-ordination service, working in conjunction with colleagues, service users and stakeholders to provide an efficient service. In particular to the 2ww lung cancer service/pathway in respiratory medicine.
* To exercise initiative and judgement using acquired skills and knowledge, maintaining confidentiality at all times. The post holder will provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for service users.
* Create databases to collect and monitor information to assist with the collection and provision of statistical data as required and the ability to extract, manipulate, analyse complex data sets and communicate them in an easy to understand manner.
* Typing and distribution of clinic letters, results letters and other documents via internal audio dictation systems (Dragon winscribe).
* To provide a point of contact for GPs and other Health Care Professionals and also patients/relatives/carers, who are often highly emotional and distressed ensuring that any language or other communication barriers are overcome.
* Work collaboratively as part of an integrated team however be able to work independently , managing and organising own day-to-day work tasks showing an ability to prioritise in order to achieve set timescales.
* Shared duties of managing 2ww triage outcomes and booking clinical appointments to specified timeframes in line with the 2ww cancer pathway national targets.
