The ACNIO supports readiness for electronic patient record (EPR) implementation, leads on professional digital standards, and ensures digital solutions are safe, effective, and enhance patient care. This position also contributes to education, clinical engagement, and governance around digital innovations.
Main duties of the job
The Associate Chief Nursing Information Officer (ACNIO) plays a key leadership role in driving the digital transformation of nursing, midwifery, and Allied Health Professional (AHP) services across the Trust. The post holder provides strategic clinical leadership, working closely with divisional leaders and digital teams to embed safe and effective digital solutions, such as the Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
They will lead the Nursing and Midwifery Informatics Programme, ensuring alignment with both Trust-wide and Acute Provider Collaborative digital strategies. The ACNIO assesses clinical risk, facilitates service readiness, and supports the standardisation of practice through informatics. Acting as a key conduit between clinical teams and digital governance structures, the role ensures that changes to clinical systems are informed by frontline practice, improve patient outcomes, and support high standards of care. Additionally, the ACNIO commissions data reports, advises on nursing metrics, and represents the Trust at strategic digital forums.

- Experience of leading and managing a clinical digital service (min Lead Nurse)
- Experience leading large scale transformation/improvement programmes with demonstrated outcomes

- Experience in Clinical Governate and quality leadership at divisional or trust level
Desirable
- formal project management qualification
Registration - NMC, Midwife or HCPC with a MSc and evidence of professional development

- Must be a registered practitioner with an MSc and evidence of professional development
- Significant evidecne of stakeholder engagement and influencing acorss all organistional levels
- Experience of developing policy, strategy and writing board papers

- Doctoral level education
