Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for delivering high-quality, efficient patient services within defined clinical areas while supporting the Operational Management Team in service management.

They will work collaboratively with clinical, nursing, and divisional teams to achieve performance and quality targets, contribute to Directorate objectives, and lead agreed projects and service improvement initiatives.

In addition, they will collect, audit, analyse, and report complex clinical data relating to BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant) and CAR-T (Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell Therapy) therapies for internal use and external registries, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

The role also involves maintaining specialist databases, supporting benchmarking and reporting to NHS England, contributing to research and audits, and providing effective line management, including staff appraisal, training, and development aligned with organisational goals.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide hands-on operational management to designated areas of the Directorate, ensuring the delivery of services in line with expected service standards.
  • Be accountable through the Service Delivery Manager and Business Manager for the monitoring and delivery of key quality, productivity and performance targets.
  • Undertake appropriate projects identified by the Operational Managers for the Paediatric Service as required.
  • Support your counterparts as required with developing new administrative processes and procedures in their areas.
  • Promote excellent customer service throughout all areas of responsibility, taking remedial action to correct poor and unresponsive service.
  • Work closely with the clinical management teams to ensure the effective delivery of a responsive and efficient administration service that supports the patient’s pathway whilst delivering departmental and organisation KPIs.
  • Lead on the investigation and co-ordination of complaints that are predominantly administrative related within the directorate working closely with nurses, medical staff and with the Patient Advisors. Ensure corrective action is taken in response to patient feedback.
