An exciting opportunity of Assistant Medical Equipment Engineer has become available to join supporting medical technology in this large central London teaching hospital Trust
Main duties of the job
Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering provides a comprehensive range of scientific and technical services to all of the Trust’s main acute and community sites. The core purpose of the Medical Equipment Management Services (MEMS) Section, in which this post is based, is provision of repair, calibration and maintenance to a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, to ensure equipment operates effectively and safely with a minimum of downtime. Our MEMS service are spread across multiple sites, our main hospital sites at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ (London) and our offsite logistics facility in Dartford. This opportunity will support operational activities across our workshops sites and you may be required to work at a different site depending on the work demand.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out scheduled servicing, repair, calibration and acceptance on a range of medical equipment and will be required to work to high standards of safety and accountability. They will have regular dialogue with clinical and technical staff to identify faults and repair equipment, including working in clinical areas and with manufacturers.
The equipment library role will have less emphasis on the technical capabilities listed above; but will involve a range a processes that support collection and delivery of medical devices to clinical areas.
You will need to have an appropriate qualification, technical skills and aptitude; though training, support and career development opportunities can be provided.

- Relevant HNC, NVQ level 4/5 in a relevant subject. (Electrical / Electronic Engineering)

- Experience of working in the healthcare environment
