Provide visible leadership and operational support, deputising for senior management where required. Build strong internal and external relationships to promote collaboration and high standards of safety and performance.

The Assistant HART Manager (Training) is a key leadership role responsible for the development, delivery, and assurance of a high-quality training function that supports the operational readiness, safety, and effectiveness of the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).
The post holder will provide professional leadership and management across training, governance, and performance, ensuring that all activity aligns with national standards, organisational priorities, and regulatory requirements.
Working as part of the HART and Special Operations leadership team, the role brings together responsibilities across education, quality assurance, operational leadership, and service improvement, with a strong focus on delivering measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Training Leadership and Delivery
Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of a comprehensive and responsive training programme, aligned to national ambulance standards and organisational requirements.
Ensure all staff maintain required competencies and professional standards through structured training, assessment, and development processes.
Oversee the development of training materials, lesson plans, and schedules, ensuring consistency, quality, and operational relevance.
Coordinate instructor resources effectively to maximise training delivery while minimising impact on operational cover.
Governance, Quality and Assurance
Establish and maintain robust training governance frameworks, including audit, compliance monitoring, and documentation standards.
Provide assurance to senior leadership on training quality, compliance, and performance through structured reporting and data analysis.
Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-based practice.
Participate in incident investigations, debriefs, and learning reviews, ensuring lessons are identified and implemented effectively.
Operational and Strategic Contribution
Support the strategic planning and operational oversight of HART services, contributing to service development and future capability planning.
Work closely with senior leaders and peers to develop and implement new processes, policies, and innovative approaches to training and service delivery.
Deputise for the HART & Special Operations Manager as required, providing leadership across both training and operational functions.
Contribute to ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, including CQC, NHS England, and emergency preparedness standards.
