Job summary

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit into the role of Assistant Management Accountant, on a 9 month fixed term contract. This is a key role within the broader finance team and operates within the financial management team supporting the functioning and delivery of high quality financial information and reporting.

This role will work closely with the Divisional Financial Management team with the primary aim of preparing monthly management accounts for their designated Division, in addition to engaging with operational team members to discuss budgets, establishments and ongoing developments across the service. Main duties of the job

Financial Management

Preparation of expenditure and income journals & budget journals for input into the general ledger to ensure that budget statements reflect accurate spend and income with appropriate accruals and prepayments whilst ensuring that all financial information is processed in accordance with policies & procedures.

Prepare and enact internal recharge journals and issue invoice sales orders in a timely manner.

Prepare monthly budget reports for the budget holders and to identify, investigate and report on variances from plan and produce exception reports and supporting data as required

Produce, analyse and investigate financial trends and benchmark internally, and assist senior management accountant and business analysts in providing financial support to clinical and non-clinical services as appropriate.

Hold routine budgetary performance meetings with budget holders on a regular basis.

Financial Planning

Assist in the provision of financial data to managers with regards to development of services, including skill mix changes.

Performance Management

Assist with the preparation of monthly financial performance and returns in line with an established reporting timetable.
