An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced developer to work on a range of applications, and process automation. This post plays a key role in enhancing the trust’s digital capabilities, supporting clinicians and other corporate staff to carry out their functions.
The role requires 3-5+ years’ experience of working in a development role, creating new applications, process automation, and diagnosing errors quickly to resolve any issues that might occur in existing deployments.

Main duties of the job
The post sits within the Digital Applications team, who are responsible for maintaining, and configuring the trust’s main clinical systems, as well as developing new innovative digital products. The team has 3 main areas, Support, Configuration, and Development which work together to provide a comprehensive digital applications service.
We work closely with the trust’s CCIO, Project Management Office, Service Improvement Leads, operational managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are correctly identified, and introduced into service delivery.
Daily, you can expect to work on a range of tasks, supporting existing products, developing new applications, and process automations using a range of coding languages and frameworks.

Essential
- Developing a range of applications and automated processes utilising industry standard frameworks, and methodologies for business-critical functions.
- Monitoring, identifying, and resolving issues covering a wide range of processes and applications.
- Reviewing code to remove potential issues, enhance performance & security, and reduce maintenance.
- Taking innovative approaches to problem solving and/or devising inventive and creative solutions.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
- Proficient in a range of programming languages, common frameworks, and libraries.
- Proficient in organised and documented sets of techniques, and proven methods, intended to facilitate the structured and open development of applications. A DevOps approach may be taken where development and operational staff work together.
- Proficient in software that enables the user to capture, create, populate and manipulate data structures and where appropriate unstructured data.
- Familiar with the graphical human/computer interfaces that facilitate effective communication between human operator and computer.
- Knowledge of the IT/IS infrastructure and the IT applications and service processes used within own organisation, including those associated with sustainability and efficiency.

- Educated to degree or equivalent level of experience working as a developer.
