Job overview

This is an opportunity to join the team in the busy Pharmacy Team, working within the Anticoagulation Service .

The post holder will be expected to work with a flexible approach, always maintaining confidentiality, when dealing with service user/staff information.

The postholder will be responsible for participating as a key member of the admin team by providing an efficient, customer-focused reception and administrative service.

This will support the clinical team(s), patients and their carers who access the service and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the work environment.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for all areas associated with the administration of patient appointments, including paper and electronic records systems.

To ensure the delivery of the quality strategy within the designated area incorporating establishment of systems and processes.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of undertaking administrative/office duties for a minimum of 12 months
  • Experience of working in a busy office providing a service to customers/service users

Desirable

  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within or outside of the NHS

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of GCSE Level (or equivalent) standard of Education

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or equivalent) and/or Customer Service

Specific role requirements

Essential

  • A courteous and respectful attitude towards others. -– setting an excellent 1st impression
  • Remain calm under pressure during very busy periods in the Centre and adapt to the Service needs as required.
  • Excellent telephone manner, with the ability to deal calmly and tactfully with telephone callers and visitors

Desirable

  • A general interest in anticoagulation or pharmacy

Skills, knowledge and competency

Essential

  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload
  • Competent use of Microsoft Office Packages Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to people at all levels, including composing correspondence
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care/service user skills

Desirable

  • Ability to take minutes of meetings as required
  • Ability to enter and manipulate data for reports via EXCEL databases
