Are you a passionate, dedicated, and experienced midwife keen to lead a team that makes a real difference in the lives of women, birthing people and their families across Cambridgeshire, Greater Peterborough and surrounding borders.
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Antenatal and Postnatal Hospital Maternity Services Ward Manager, to join our innovative senior midwifery team and help shape the future of hospital based maternity services.
About the Role:
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the effective line management of staff within the area of responsibility and has clinical responsibility for the safe and effective care delivery within their Ward Area.
The post holder will be responsible for safe and effective day to day operational management and clinical leadership of the midwifery services, within the area. Will be expected to lead a team, team build, organise others in their actions and set priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility. Will be expected to performance manage both the activity and members of the team. To maintain a high quality, working environment in which staff can maximise their potential and further develop their skills in clinical practice.
The maternity unit environment is both unpredictable and challenging. The post holder will be faced with many competing demands for attention and will be expected to exercise excellent judgement in dealing clinical needs.

- A qualified midwife with substantial experience in antenatal and postnatal inpatient care.
- A confident leader who can manage, motivate, and support a team within a busy maternity environment.
- Proven ability to provide expert clinical advice and ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.
- Experience in the day-to-day operational management of a clinical area, including staff supervision, prioritisation, and workload management.
- A proactive approach to the development of midwifery practice and continuous service improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities, particularly in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
- A commitment to staff development, fostering a positive working culture where individuals can thrive and reach their potential.
