An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Critical Care Speech and Language Therapy team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are pleased to advertise a permanent, part-time band 7 Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist position to support the provision of specialist SLT services in a general intensive care unit. We are seeking a highly motivated clinician with expertise in the assessment and management of adults with complex dysphagia and communication disorders within a critical care setting. Experience in instrumental swallowing assessment and tracheostomy management is highly desirable. The target start date for this position is April 2027.
Main duties of the job
You will independently assess and manage adults with highly complex dysphagia and communication disorders within general ICU, providing advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based management recommendations.
You will provide clinical leadership through supervision and support of students, contribute to education and training, participate in audit, research and quality improvement initiatives, and play an active role in the ongoing development of Adult Acute SLT services.
You will provide cover for the Senior Specialist SLT in service and team co-ordination, operational management and representation at relevant forums as required.

All appointments with a start date on or after 1 October 2026 will be subject to a 12-week probationary period. This provides a structured and supportive period to help you settle into your role, with regular reviews and feedback.
As there is a 12-week probationary period, successful candidates are expected to have the Right to Work for a period of at least 6 months from the proposed start date. Immigration and Right to Work status will be discussed with successful candidates at conditional offer. CUH will not offer sponsorship to candidates that have applied for a fee waiver.
