An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Secretarial Team within the Dermatology Department for a Band 2 Administration Assistant. The post holder will be required to provide an efficient administrative service to the clinicians and their teams.
The successful candidate will work within a team of secretarial staff, but also have the ability to work independently. They will be required to follow Policies and Procedures.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, reliability and must have an organised approach to work.

Main duties of the job
This role involves working closely with patients, medical and nursing staff. Post holders will be required to provide an efficient administrative service
The role will include:
- Talking to patients over the telephone and ensuring their queries are dealt with efficiently
- Keeping VR dictation and typing up to date for the clinical team
- Opening and distributing post
- Making ad-hoc appointments
- Ad-hoc admin duties as requested by the clinical team

- To provide and maintain an efficient and effective administration service to the Dermatology Secretarial team.
- Contribute to the delivery a consistently high standard of patient care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Skills & Abilities
Essential
- • Keyboard skills with a sound knowledge of computers
- • Good communication skills both written verbal and telephone skills
- • Team-worker / ability to work unsupervised. Effective organisation and time management skills
Knowledge & Experience
Desirable
- • NHS software packages. o Knowledge of SystmOne, eRecord
- • Experience working in a patient/public environment in an administration or clerical role
- • Previous experience working within the NHS
Qualifications & Education
Essential
- • Good standard of English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent at grade C or above or equivalent or equivalent level experience
Desirable
- • ECDL computer qualification
