The Central Cluster Acute Services are looking to recruit either a preceptorship newly qualified band 7 or Band 8a Psychologist to join our busy and well-established Acute Psychology Team, based on the Lower Plateau, Hellesdon Hospital.
We are looking for someone with experience, or who wishes to gain experience, of working psychologically with adults with complex presentations who are experiencing a high level of distress. The role is varied and challenging with you working mainly on the inpatient wards but with opportunities to do some longer pieces of therapy work with outpatients who have come in via the crisis resolution home treatment team.
We are seeking someone who would be able to carry out assessments/formulations, offer brief interventions and contribute to the development of psychological skills packages and workbooks for the wider team to utilise. Alongside this you will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary inpatient teams to provide formal and informal supervision/support, team formulations, reflective practice and promotion of trauma informed, least restrictive care.
We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive psychology team comprising of 11 clinicians ranging from B4 Assistant Psychologists to B8c Associate Director of Psychology/Consultant Clinical Psychologist. We come with a range of specialist interests and therapy expertise and have strong links to the UEA doctorate course.
Main duties of the job
- Completing assessments/formulations with the patient to help guide the inpatient treatment plan and make recommendations for ongoing psychological care/treatment upon discharge.
- Completing brief and extended psychological interventions using evidence based models with both inpatients and outpatients.
- Working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team to support trauma-informed, psychological thinking, use of least restrictive practice and promotion of risk formulation to inform the team's discharge plans.
- Supervision of assistant and trainee psychologists, where appropriate.
- Offering regular reflective practice and team formulations to the wider teams as well as training on a range of relevant topics.
- Working on relevant research projects, audits, data analysis and trust related wider projects that help support and promote national initiatives and priorities in the delivery of inpatient care.

There will be the opportunity for training and development as part of the role and the post is funded as full-time but part time hours or a split post can be considered.
