Due to a restructure within our Medicines Management Team we are recruiting for a full-time enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Medicines Management Team Leader.

Our Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred Clinical Pharmacy Services to inpatients and outpatients at Barnsley Hospital.

We are an innovative and forward-thinking department who over recent years has invested in a host of technical improvements. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) is fully embedded and we are using Quality Improvement (QI) methodology to reprofile and optimise all aspects of the pharmacy service, and we welcome and routinely implement ideas around doing things differently.

Our highly respected and well embedded Clinical Pharmacy Service includes ward-based Clinical Pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs), Medicines Management Support Workers (MMSWs) and Medicines Management Assistants (MMAs).

As a Medicines Management Team Leader, you will be responsible for the operational management and professional leadership of our ward-based Medicines Management Team comprising of MMTs, Rotational Technicians and Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians, MMSWs and MMAs.

Main duties of the job

You will play an integral part, working closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Team Leaders and the Deputy Chief Pharmacist, in ensuring the ward-based Clinical Pharmacy Service continues to meet the needs of the patients we serve.

You will champion and promote ward-based Medicines Management services and provide the leadership and vision to continually evolve the service in line with agreed objectives to optimise patient flow, improve patient care and service delivery. You will be responsible for the ongoing professional development of the Medicines Management Team ensuring staff are developed to their full potential, with clear progression opportunities and role expansion to support workforce sustainability and meet any future service requirements.

Alongside all of our other Pharmacy Technicians you will also work late nights, weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Significant recent post-registration hospital experience working as an MMT is essential.
