The Role

The post holder will be responsible for Infection Prevention and Control in the built environment providing advice to multidisciplinary teams on water safety, ventilation, capital projects, estates maintenance, interpretation of built environment chapters of the National Infection Control Manuals and SHTM’s. This will include interpretation of microbiological test data, advising on issues related to procurement and acting as a facilitator between clinical, IPCT and estate teams to provide a safe built environment for patient care.

The post holder will be working with diverse clinical teams and estates to develop and complete derogations documentation, patient susceptibility assessments and clinical mitigations within the built environment. Directly involved in corporate risk management of the environment.

The post holder will also be expected to have regular contact with:

• IPC and Decontamination Teams in another NHS Scotland Boards

This post will be required to travel across all Sites in order to carry out tasks.

In this key role, you will:

• To contribute to the strategic direction of the sites and area of responsibility, and assist in the determination of the Acute Division’s strategy and policy
• To be accountable for the delivery of safe, effective and efficient nursing/midwifery care throughout the area of responsibility and be responsible for the development and implementation of clinical and non-clinical policies, guided by professional and clinical standards (NMC, NHSQIS) and NHSL strategic aims.
• Supporting the implementation of systems, control processes and risk management arrangements to support monitoring of compliance with governance and best practice requirements
• To ensure that evidence-based practice determines the delivery of patient care. The post holder directs and facilitates clinical and nursing research and audit, encouraging utilisation of research findings.
• To works in partnership, within local and national guidelines for professional management of staff, in relation to performance, conduct and capability.

What You'll Bring:

• Registered Nurse / Midwife with valid NMC Registration.
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level.
• Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework.
• Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development.
• Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
