The WMMMN ensure that women with either pre-existing conditions or those that develop conditions during pregnancy, have access to expert maternal medicine advice and where needed, transferring to a specialist centre for expert care. The Network provides a range of support, advice and guidance, training and education to clinicians across the region to optimise outcomes for both mother and baby.
The hub midwife will provide advice & guidance to clinicians across the West Midlands and will support the delivery of tertiary multi-disciplinary team meetings, reviewing women with a range of pre-existing or acute disease/conditions who are, or wish to be pregnant, or have recently given birth. The role will support the training and education to clinicians in both maternity and non-maternity settings across the region in relation to women with the conditions listed below:
cardiac, respiratory, renal, haematological, rheumatological, endocrine, gastro-intestinal and liver, neurological, skin diseases and cancer and including acute illness where the underlying condition is not clear such as: headache, breathlessness, chest pain, abdominal pain, fever/sepsis.
Occasional travel around the WM may be necessary.
