Main duties of the job

At Avery Healthcare, we are looking for a Wellbeing and Activities Assistant to join our team at Southampton Manor Care Home in Southampton, Hampshire. We support our caring staff and celebrate their work as they make a positive impact on residents lives daily. You will assist the Wellbeing Coordinator in offering diverse activities to promote the residents' physical, cognitive, and social well-being. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe working and living environment, communicating any changes in residents conditions, and liaising with the local community to foster social engagement. Ideal candidates must have effective verbal and written communication skills, an understanding of the importance of interaction for well-being, a positive attitude toward older people, and experience in a residential nursing Dementia setting. The role requires a DBS disclosure which Avery Healthcare will cover, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Wellbeing and Activities Assistant, your focus will be tosupportthe Wellbeing Coordinator in providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the resident's physical, cognitive, and social well-being.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Maintaininga safe living and working environment,contributing to the positive and professional image of thehome.
  • Reporting any changes in residents physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator, Home Manager, and the care staff.
  • Supporting with ordering and preparing supplies for upcoming activities as directed.
  • Supporting establishing links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries) to encourage access to the wider community and promote intergenerational activity.
